Six cricketers including Misbah-ul-Haq, Salman Butt under income tax microscope

Wahab Riaz, Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat issued notices to file returns as FBR investigates assets of cricketers. Captain Misbah has been found to have skipped income tax payments of Rs3.69 million.
The Federal Board of Revenue has started investigating the assets of six cricket players including current skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and former skipper Salman Butt.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, was found out to be a defaulter of Rs3.69 million while batsman Imran Nazir was found to be defaulter of Rs1.1 million.
Two of the players under investigation have already been issued recovery notices on account of defaulting on their tax payments.

LONDON: Disgraced cricketer Salman Butt has lodged an appeal against his 30-month sentence for a fixing scam which rocked international cricket.
Yasin Patel, Butt’s lawyer, confirmed the lodging of the appeal.
“I can confirm that Butt has lodged an appeal against the sentence,” he said. “We lodged it this week. Now we wait for the Court of Appeal.”
It is important to note that the appeal is against the sentence and not the verdict.
