IPL: Two matches today

BANGLORE: Two matches will be played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday, Geo News reported.
Royal Challengers Banglore and Mumbai Indians will clash in the first match here, which will start in the afternoon at 3.30 P.M. (Pakistan Time)
In the second match, Kolkata Night Riders will take on Chennai Super Kings. This will start in the evening at 7.30 P.M. (Pakistan Time)
Pakistan’s first sports channel Geo Super is televising all the matches of this event live.
Ephedrine Case: Musa Gilani expresses no confidence in Brig Fahim

ISLAMABAD: Ali Musa Gilani has submitted an eleven-page reply in Ephedrine Case to the Supreme Court denying any involvement in the matter, Geo News reported.
The younger Gilani expressed his no confidence in the probe carried out by Anti Narcotics Force’s (ANF) Regional Director and the Supreme Court appointed investigation officer Brig Fahim Ahmad Khan.
He requested the court to change the officer.
Obama hails ”important step” in Afghan transition

WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama welcomed the Kabul government’s move Sunday to have local forces take control of security in a large new slice of the country as an “important step forward.”

ATHENS: Greece’s radical leftist leader spurned an invitation from the president for a final round of coalition talks on Monday, all but ensuring a new election that he is poised to win.

SC has right to interpret constitution: NA Speaker Fehmida Mirza

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza said that the Supreme Court had the right to interpret the constitution adding that Prime Minister Gilani should not have said that he would only listen to the speaker.

Baby with two heads born in Lahore

LAHORE: A baby with two heads was born at a private hospital in the Joharabad area here.
According to the Head Doctor of the private hospital, the birth was normal and the mother is in good health.
The father of the child said he had taken his wife to government hospitals but they had all refused normal delivery.

Eleven killed in Philippine bus plunge

MANILA: Eleven people died and 10 others were injured when a bus fell into a ravine in the northern Philippines, police said Monday.
Disaster struck near the town of Bontoc, 275 kilometres (170 miles) north of Manila, on Sunday when a bag fell off the vehicle as it laboured up an uphill road and the driver stopped for it, a provincial police report said.
The bus however rolled backwards until it pitched down a 150-metre (500-foot) cliff. Rescuers pulled 11 corpses from the bottom of the ravine and rescued 14 people, including four who escaped injury.
Parliamentary Committee to select CEC meets today

ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary committee to pick the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will meet today, Geo News reported.
The committee will also decide upon its new chairman. Minister for Religious Affairs Khurshid Shah is likely to be re-elected on the post.
The opposition, a vital part of the exercise, has refused to take part saying the convicted Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani is not a constitutional consultee in this key appointment.
