HONG KONG: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf said on Wednesday he would launch a new party on October 1, as the retired general plots a return to the frontlines of the restive country’s turbulent politics.
Musharraf also accused Afghan President Hamid Karzai of lacking “legitimacy” but urged the West to stay the course against the Taliban and not to abandon the restive region.
“I’m going to a declare a party on October 1…. We have to bring about a new political culture in Pakistan,” he told reporters in Hong Kong after addressing an annual investors’ forum organised by the CLSA brokerage.

Sky quoted police as saying that officers found the 50-year-old with multiple stab wounds. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
LONDON: British media reports say a Pakistani politician has been killed outside his home in London.
BBC and Sky News quote a police spokesman as saying that Imran Farooq, a member of Pakistan’s MQM party, was stabbed to death Thursday.
Sky quoted police as saying that officers found the 50-year-old with multiple stab wounds. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

Blast in CID Office in karachi

KARACHI: An explosion has taken place near the PIDC building on Club Road in Karachi.
According to Express 24/7 correspondent Ahmed Jung, numerous injuries are being reported.
Initial reports suggest that the explosion targeted the DIG CID’s office in the area.
Express News Correspondent Nadeem Khan reports the intensity of the explosion was such that it was heard for many kilometers around and nearby buildings have been damaged.
The explosion took place in a very busy area. Other than the PIDC building, there is also the Chief Minister House, Governor House, Pearl Continental Hotel and Sheraton in the area.
