Ebad vows steps for ship crews release

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad on Sunday assured the families of merchant navy ship MV AlBedo’s crew that all efforts would be made to ensure the safe and early release of their loved ones being held hostage by Somali pirates.
Talking to the family members of the crew who called on him at the Governor House, Ebad said the release of the captives would be an arduous and painstaking task.
He issued directives to Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chief Ahmed Chinoy to step up efforts in this regard.

Man killed, wife injured in Orangi Town shooting

A man was killed and his wife injured in an attack near the Nishan-i-Haider Chowk in Orangi Town on Sunday.
Police learnt from witnesses that two men riding on a motorcycle shot Imran, 32, and his wife Kehkashan, 28, at close range, and escaped.
“The woman begged the two men to spare their lives, but the attackers opened fire on them and fled,” a witness told police, who arrived at the scene after receiving information about the shooting.

The paper of commercial geography part II of the Commerce (Regular) group at the Government National College, which was postponed earlier, has been rescheduled for May 24. KU conducts aptitude test for PhD in Law

Karachi University conducted an aptitude test for PhD in Law on Sunday in which around 54 candidates appeared. Only five seats have been allocated for the course.
According to the KU administration, the test was conducted in a peaceful environment. A list of successful candidates would be uploaded on the institute’s website on May 16, whereas interviews would be conducted on May 26.
On the day of the interview, students would have to write a two-page research proposal in one hour.

Roadside bomb injures 17 in southern Thailand

BANGKOK: Seventeen people including 10 women paramilitary troops and a civilian were injured in a roadside bombing in Thailand’s insurgency-plagued south, local police said Monday.
The blast targeted Thai security personnel on their way back from guard duties at an annual fair in Pattani town just after midnight. The device, which was concealed in a gas canister, was detonated when the military vehicle stopped at traffic lights, injuring 15 troops and a security volunteer. A local man travelling in a pick-up truck was also hurt.

Ephedrine Case: Musa Gilani expresses no confidence in Brig Fahim

ISLAMABAD: Ali Musa Gilani has submitted an eleven-page reply in Ephedrine Case to the Supreme Court denying any involvement in the matter, Geo News reported.
